Black carbon is a unique primary tracer for combustion emissions. It is recognized as the second most important cause of global warming. We have demonstrated that a lightweight aircraft can provide valuable information on black carbon concentrations. Measurements have been performed throughout the flight with an Aethalometer and include regions, where no or very little measurements have taken place (Antarctica, Africa, Atlantic and Pacific oceans).

These are PRELIMINARY and RAW data. Please consult the data owners for more information, we would be very happy to collaborate on this topic.
